Some countertops are surfaces. Some are statements. And every once in a while, one stops people dead in their tracks.
That’s exactly what happens in Sarah’s West Linn kitchen when she flips on the light.
“My favorite part is seeing their faces when I turn on the light. It’s pretty fun to see their jaws drop when they see it all lit up.”
Starting From Scratch
When Sarah bought her home a couple of years ago, she knew a full remodel was coming. New cabinets, new countertops, a complete transformation. Her cabinet maker, Michael Randolph of Michael Randolph Custom Cabinetry, pointed her toward Precision Countertops. She visited a few other places first.
She ended up back at Precision.
“We did stop by a few other places, but then ended up at Precision. And they led me through the process of picking out the different materials.”
That process led her to something she wasn’t expecting.
Finding Cristallo

During her visit to our Wilsonville Design Studio, Sarah came across Cristallo Quartzite, a natural stone prized for its elegance, depth, and the way it catches and holds light. It was an immediate connection.
“I came across this particular stone called Cristallo, which I fell in love with.”

Her Precision designer helped her take that vision further, suggesting backlighting for the raised island bar to bring out the stone’s natural luminosity. The result is an island that glows with a warm, inviting light that transforms the entire feel of the kitchen.

For the lower counters, Sarah chose MSI Calacatta Miraggio Sienna quartz, a sleek and durable complement to the drama of the quartzite island above. The contrast between the two surfaces is part of what makes the space so visually compelling.

The Experience From Start to Finish
What stood out to Sarah wasn’t just the materials. It was the care that went into every step of the process.
“The communication was fantastic. You could tell that they really just loved doing that and loved working with the materials.”
That’s what our in-house design team brings to every project. They know these materials deeply, and that knowledge shows in the way they guide customers toward decisions that are right for their home, their lifestyle, and their vision.
For Sarah, that meant a kitchen her family actually lives in.
“My son is a budding chef and he loves to be in here making a mess and exploring new things.”

Go Bougie. It’s Your House.
Sarah’s advice to anyone considering a remodel is straightforward.
“When I saw it, it was a total emotional decision. And I just want to encourage people. You can go bougie. This is your house. Have fun and enjoy it. I’m going to love this for 20 years.”
And her take on Precision Countertops?
“Highly recommend them. Don’t waste your time going anywhere else. These are the guys that’ll take care of you.”
